Dr. Burgoon is an award winning pharmacologist, toxicologist and biostatistician. To date, Dr. Burgoon has over 80 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
He has given numerous talks and lectures at professional society meetings, Health Canada, Environment Canada, Dow-DuPont, BASF, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, University of Seoul, various US universities, and US government agencies, among others. Dr. Burgoon has also been elected to serve on professional society committees and as an officer in various specialty sections.
Dr. Lyle D. Burgoon, earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology with Environmental Toxicology from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Burgoon spent a short time as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Michigan State University’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology where he started a lab focused on computational toxicology.
Later, Dr. Burgoon moved to the US Government where he has led and supervised numerous teams of federal scientists and contractors solving complicated environmental and military science challenges. At the US Environmental Protection Agency, Dr. Burgoon served as the Chief of the Hazardous Pollutant Assessment Group, where he led the toxicological assessment of hydraulic fracturing fluids, polychlorinated biphenyls, methanol, trimethylbenzenes, 1,4-dioxane, among others. Dr. Burgoon also served in advisory capacities on several chemicals, including polychlorinated biphenyls and hydraulic fracturing fluids.
At the US Army, Dr. Burgoon serves as a Program Manager and Principal Investigator overseeing large and complex unclassified and classified programs. Among other things, these projects look at developing artificial intelligence for predicting toxicity of chemicals that may be encountered on the battlefield, nuclear weapon effects (civilian infrastructure, agriculture systems, natural waterways), anticipatory intelligence for chemical and biological threat agents, and artificial intelligence for geospatial intelligence.
Today, Dr. Burgoon is focused on solving challenges for his clients through Raptor Pharm & Tox, Ltd.
